Sunburn is
characterized by painful, reddened skin, occasionally accompanied by blisters.
In some cases, fever may occur. It is often accompanied by sunstroke, which is
a type of heat exhaustion and brings on dizziness, vomiting, headache, fever,
and occasionally collapse.
People with
less melanin in their skin, which is a pigment that protect the skin from
burning, are more susceptible.
Nature Medicine and Home Remedies for Sunburns
Home remedies for sunburn #1: Use the gel
of an aloe vera plant directly, preferably from a live plant, on the burn to
reduce pain and encourage healing. To obtain the gel, simply slit an aloe leaf
lengthwise and gently scrape out the pulp with the edge of a spoon. If you
don't have a plant handy, you can purchase aloe vera gel at your local health
food store.
Home remedies for sunburn #2: Cut a vitamin
E capsules, open it and spread the oil on the tender area. The oil will ease
the pain of a sunburn and will also lubricate your skin to guard against
peeling and blistering. Use four 1,000-1.U.
capsules of vitamin E per day.
Home remedies for sunburn #3: Place green
tea on the affected area with a washcloth will also have a soothing effect. The
poultice should be left on for about thirty minutes every few hours.
Home remedies for sunburn #4:Place chamomile
and witch hazel tea on the affected area with a washcloth to reduce the pain
and help promote healing. Apply it every
15 minutes.
Home remedies for sunburn #5:Steep two
strong tea bags in a cup of boiling water for ten minutes and apply with
washcloth. The tannic acid, an
ingredient in some pharmaceutical sunburn remedies, forms a protective surface
over the burn and encourages healing.
Home remedies for sunburn #6: Use
calendula ointment or Hypericum tincture for healing and pain relief.
Home remedies for sunburn #7: Heat a
teaspoon of honey and mixed with a few teaspoons of petroleum jelly. Apply
gently massages into the affected area to soothe.

baking soda into water and soak for twenty minutes.

little raw potato and apply directly to the worst affected areas.

of cucumber to the affected areas.

cider vinegar in water to dilute it (try one part vinegar to two or three parts
cool water) and apply it to the areas that are burned. Put application every 20
minutes or so. That hot feeling you get from too much sun should disappear and
the stinging sensation will subside. You may even find that applying the
vinegar solution will keep you from peeling.
Home remedies for sunburn #12: Splash a cup
of cold whole milk to cool and soothe the area.
Home remedies for sunburn #13: Put equal
parts of milk and ice in a quart container and add about two tablespoons of
salt. Soak a washcloth in the milky mixture and place it on the raw area. Leave
the washcloth on for up to fifteen minutes and repeat three or four times
during the day.

yogurt for a sunburned face. Leave on for twenty minutes and let the yogurt
take the heat out of your burn. Rinse with lukewarm water.

drops of lavender oil, with an oil dispersant, in the bath to encourage healing
and reduce the pain.
Home remedies for sunburn #16: Use a few
drops of essential oil of bergamot, in a little grapeseed oil, and massage it
gently into the burned skin. Avoid the eye area. (Aromatherapy remedy).

Remedy (Bach flowers remedy) and dilute it in a little water

germ oil ointment on the face.

clay poultices to encourage healing and reduce the pain.

Eye-easing
remedy The delicate
skin around the eye is very susceptible to sunburns. You can use the following
effective home remedies:
- Wrap the lightly
beating one egg white poultice over your closed eyes and get a good night's
sleep. Remove the poultice when you wake up and you should feel a noticeable
improvement.
- Prepare a
poultice made from grated apples and place on your eyelids. Then lie back and
relax—it will be helpful if you can keep the poultice on for about a half hour.
Natural Cures Recommendations
Use a
sunscreen before going into direct sunlight, and wear a hat.
Direct
exposure to sunlight is not recommended for children under the age of three.
People of
all ages should avoid the midday
sun, when the rays are the strongest and most damaging. Repeated
sunburn can lead to premature aging and skin cancer.
